6 Digit Nixie Tube Clock Controller Chip. 40-pin DIP IC. Pre-programmed high-tech microcontroller has many of the features most requested in a nixie clock. Features include:

User selectable 12/24 Hour mode

Leading zero blanking

Digit cross fade option with adjustable fade duration

Date display with adjustable format, duration and display interval

Scrolling time and date display with adjustable speeds

Automatic daylight savings time correction, user adjustable for most all locations

Blinking colons are user adjustable, 9 different modes including AM/PM indication

Digit cycling (slots machine effect) with many different display modes, prevents cathode poisoning of unused digits. Eye catching option can be configured to run every minute

Cathode poisoning prevention routines, used to preserve operation of unused digits

Power failure backup, using optional memory backup capacitor

PWM brightness control, in 10 steps, 10-100%

User adjustable PWM frequency, to quiet 'singing' tubes

Timed dimming of tubes, used to dim or turn off tubes at certain times. This weekday aware option can be used to preserve the life of your tubes, configure it to turn off during the day when you are away, or turn on only during weekends, with 4 distinct on/off/dimming times the possibilities are endless.

Software adjustable crystal, optional highly accurate TCXO (accurate to within 6 seconds per YEAR!).

Assembly is easy, just follow the included schematic and assembly notes.

An optional backup super-capacitor can be installed to provide backup in case of a power failure. A 1 farad capacitor will provide approximately 8 hours of backup time for a clock using the optional TCXO or 16 hours using a regular crystal.

The BCD outputs, while intended for 74141 nixie drivers, can also be used to drive other displays, such as individual LEDs (a binary clock!) or 7 segment displays via BCD 7 segment decoder drivers.

Please note, this controller is NOT to be used as a replacement in our 6 digit clock kit the Z57xM6D, as that kit requires a controller with a different pinout. Please contact us if you need a replacement controller for the Z57xM6D clock kit.
